About

For over 45 years, Vanair Enterprises R&D has been providing machine design solutions to industry. It began its tenure in the early 1960's as a sole proprietorship and sideline business while the owner/operator was employed at other main stream businesses. Its main characteristics are QUALITY OF DESIGN and TECHNICAL APPLICATIONS ENGINEERING both conventional and "outside the box."

The genesis of the owner/operator's mainline career came at the TYSAMAN Machine Division of the Carborundum Company. There experience was gained in the design of one-of-a-kind high horsepower abrasive, carbide tipped, and diamond sawing and cutoff machines and machine complexes. These machine complexes very often required the design and creation of elaborate materials handling systems. Later, during his career at TYSAMAN he became associated with the creation and design of billet and slab snag grinding complexes for the steel mills of the world. These complexes were installed at in United States, Canada, Japan, India, and Europe. One of his main specialties while at TYSAMAN was the design of special "straight" and "gear-in-head" spindles.

During the 1970s to 1990s, while working in the Nuclear Power Utilities Industry, additional experience was gained doing sideline work for a leading saw company in the design and creation of their spindles, saws, and sawing complexes. Later after a short period of employment with this saw company, 1990 to 1996, the owner/operator retired to do part-time work in consulting and manual writing.

The next period of experience came in the late 1990's and 2000's gaining experience in the automotive industry. This mainly included the creation of highly application specific custom "jigging and fixturing" for CNC production line equipment. Also during this time additional consulting was done for several major saw manufacturers on special large captical projects. In addition to this the owner/operator has had considerable experience through the years in the creation and preparation of limited edition maintenance manuals and has tended to concentrate in this area in the last few years because of a great interest in graphic arts.
